Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan

TLP (Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan) is an Islamic political party in Pakistan. The Movement was founded by Khadim Hussain Rizvi on 1 August 2015 after the hanging of Mumtaz Qadri. Most of the party’s members belong to the Barelvi school of Islamic thoughts headquarter is in Lahore. After the death of founder Khadim Hussain Rizvi in November 2020, Now Ameer of this party is Saad Hussain Rizvi, Khadim Hussain Rizvi’s son. TLP was banned on 15 April 2021 by the government of Pakistan under the anti-terrorism act 1997 rule 11, and it is the organizer of the 2020-2021 Pakistani protest.

Ideology

The ideology of tehrek-e-labaik Islam revolves around the “Finality of Prophet Muhammad” and the protection of Pakistan’s blasphemy laws. This group represents a Sunni sect, and its mission is to protect the honor of the Prophet.

TLP opposes the publication of cartoons depicting the Holy Prophet in France. A school teacher, Samual Paty near Paris, was seen last October showing a Caricature of Hazrat Muhammad to her class. The controversy started then.

History

In November 2018, TLP protested for three days country-wide against a Christian woman Asia Bibi. After this, the supreme court of Pakistan overturned Bibile’s conviction, ending her eight years on death row. The TLP’s primary motivation revolves around the safety of Pakistan’s Blasphemy Laws. By doing this, they attain the favor of the Muslims and Islamic agencies. Now TLP has excellent power in Pakistan, which is shown in an election. TLP was the third-largest party in Punjab after PTI and PMLN. They have two seats in the National assembly. TLP’s popularity is due to wealth, and they are supported by the madrasa’s students and the youngsters that have gained nothing from the government and political, economic system. By doing so, minorities like Christian, Hindus are victimized.

TLP’s demands

The TLP has demanded that government expel the French ambassador in Pakistan and boycott French products. TLP activists have also demanded the release of 26 years old leader Saad Hussain Rizvi.

Pakistan anti – France protest

This violent protest has paralyzed Pakistan for the past few days. This protest was organized by the Tehreek -e-Labbaik Pakistan party, which is now a force to be involved in Pakistani politics. TLP is protesting since 12 April 2021   against the government of Pakistan for arresting the TLP’s leader Saad Hussain Rizvi after he threatened the government with protest if it did not expel the France ambassador. They are protesting countrywide, especially in Lahore, Karachi Peshawar, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad. They are beating the media agents and open-fired police officers. Now the sixth day of protest and is being said by the foreigner inside the Pakistan war. Imran khan’s government is losing control over protestors, which may be the full-fledged civil war in Pakistan.

From the start of the protest, there is a clash between the Punjab police and TLP membranes. On 18 April 2021, the police fired tear gas on the protestors. As the conflict between both four is killed, 500+ are injured, and 2000+ are arrested.

Due to diverse threats to the French interest in Pakistan, the French national and French companies are advised to leave Pakistan temporarily by sending mail.

 Consequences if Pakistan starts expelling France ambassador

France is a significant financial donor to Pakistan, and if Pakistan starts to displace the France ambassador, then there would be a substantial loss for Pakistan’s economy.

Husain Haqqani, a Pakistani ambassador to the USA in an interview said

“if Pakistan starts expelling ambassador of all countries where someone commits what these hardliners see as blasphemy, then Islamabad will have diplomatic relation with very few countries.”

Government’s decision

On Wednesday, in an attempt to quell the war-like situation, Pakistan’s interior minister, Sheik Rasheed’s Twitter, announced the government’s decision to Ban the TLP. The ban on the radical organization Came into being when the major law agencies asked the protestors not to block the roads, but the violence refused to do so.

By blocking the road, they are not permitting the ambulances to go, carrying the oxygen cylinder for the covid 19 patients. Economy problems also took place.

The Pakistan’sPrime minister called upon the TLP members “who are running the media” to surrender.

Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan also said that TLP members were mistaken in their beliefs. They are creating problems for the government through social media.
